1Scope and Role

This Privacy Policy explains how Colitas Care Hub Corporation ("Colitas," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects personal information when you access or use the Colitas mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

This Policy applies to users, professionals, clinics, shelters, marketplace sellers, donors, adopters, and visitors who interact with the Platform.

By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Your use of the Platform is also subject to our Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (EULA).

2Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and profile information, such as full name, email address, phone number, password credentials, profile photo, city or region, and account preferences.
  • Pet profile information, such as pet name, species, breed, age, sex, photographs, health-related notes voluntarily provided by the user, and other pet care details entered into the Platform.
  • Professional and business information, such as business name, tax identification details, business registration records, licenses, certifications, banking or payout details, service descriptions, pricing, promotional photos, and documents submitted for verification.
  • Transaction and subscription information, such as order details, appointment details, invoices, payout records, subscription status, and payment-related metadata supplied through our payment and subscription providers. We do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Communications and content information, such as messages, audio or video communication metadata, support requests, posts, photos, videos, comments, reviews, listings, adoption-related submissions, donation-related content, and marketplace preferences.
  • Technical and usage information, such as IP address, device type, operating system, browser, app version, language settings, crash diagnostics, session activity, interactions, and analytics data.
  • Location information, including approximate or precise geolocation where enabled by the user, to show nearby services, pet-friendly places, or locally relevant results.
  • Information received from third-party providers, such as payment providers, subscription management tools, analytics vendors, fraud prevention tools, customer support tools, map providers, and identity or business verification partners, where applicable.

3How We Use Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To create, maintain, and secure user and professional accounts.
  • To operate pet profiles, social features, bookings, adoptions, donations, marketplace services, subscriptions, and communications features.
  • To connect users with professionals, clinics, shelters, sellers, and pet-friendly services.
  • To process payments, subscriptions, commissions, settlements, refunds where applicable, and transaction records.
  • To verify professionals, businesses, shelters, and marketplace sellers, including document review and compliance checks.
  • To moderate content, detect abuse, investigate fraud, protect animal welfare, and enforce our policies.
  • To provide customer support, respond to inquiries, and send service-related notices.
  • To improve the Platform, develop new features, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and conduct analytics.
  • To send newsletters, promotions, or marketing communications where permitted by law and subject to opt-out rights.
  • To comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain business records, and protect our rights and users.

4Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable under relevant data protection laws, we process personal information on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract; compliance with legal obligations; legitimate interests such as security, fraud prevention, service improvement, moderation, and business administration; and consent, for example for optional marketing communications, device permissions, or precise location access.

5Social and Public Features

The Platform may include public or semi-public features such as profiles, posts, comments, reviews, listings, shelter pages, and marketplace content. Information you choose to publish through these features may be visible to other users or the public, depending on the relevant feature settings.

You are responsible for the personal information you choose to publish. Even if content is later removed, copies may persist in caches, backups, screenshots, moderation logs, or records retained for legal or safety reasons.

6How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties. We may share information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:

  • With professionals, clinics, shelters, sellers, adopters, donors, or other users where needed to complete a booking, service, adoption, donation, purchase, support interaction, or other requested activity.
  • With service providers and processors that help us operate the Platform, such as payment processing, subscription management, cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, communications, mapping, moderation, customer support, security, and verification providers.
  • With advisors, auditors, insurers, legal counsel, or other professional service firms as necessary for compliance, auditing, dispute resolution, or corporate operations.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • To comply with law, regulation, court order, lawful request, or to protect the rights, safety, property, users, animals, or operations of Colitas and others.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

7International Transfers

Colitas may process and store information in the United States and other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate. Where required by applicable law, we implement reasonable safeguards for international data transfers and may provide additional information upon request.

8Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to maintain accounts, deliver services, complete transactions, verify professionals, moderate content, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

In practice, retention periods may vary depending on the data category. For example, account information is generally kept while the account remains active; transaction and tax records may be kept for legally required periods; support and security records may be kept for operational and evidentiary purposes; and certain content or moderation records may be retained after account closure where necessary for safety, compliance, or dispute handling.

9Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent in relation to your personal information. You may also opt out of marketing communications by using the unsubscribe link, adjusting account settings where available, or contacting us.

10Account Deletion

You may request account deletion through any in-app deletion flow we make available or by contacting us at info@colitas.io. When an account deletion request is completed, we will delete or de-identify personal information that is no longer required for legal, tax, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, backup integrity, or other legitimate operational purposes.

11Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, destruction, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, monitoring, authentication controls, role-based access, and vendor management processes.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12Children

The Platform is intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts or use the Platform. If we learn that personal information from a person under 18 has been collected in violation of this Policy, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

13Cookies, SDKs, and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, software development kits (SDKs), device identifiers, pixels, log files, and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, authenticate sessions, analyze usage, improve performance, detect fraud, and measure communications. You may control certain technologies through your device, browser, or app permission settings.

The Platform may contain links to or integrations with third-party sites, tools, maps, app stores, communications providers, or other services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and you should review their terms and privacy notices before using those services.

15Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice by email, in-app notification, website posting, or other reasonable means before the updated version becomes effective where required by law. The "Effective Date" at the top of this Policy indicates when the current version took effect.
